Didgeridoo master Pamela Mortensen will be the guest artist at the Nye Beach Summer Celebration this Saturday, July 15, adding her distinctive sound to the flutes and drums of the Thunder & Lightness Ensemble.
“Pamela performed with Thunder & Lightness a couple of years ago and the combination of the flutes and didgeridoo with the drums is a feast for the ears,” said event organizer Chandler Davis. “We’ll have Terry Filer back with us on the Native American flutes, Skip Floraday and Rodney Turner will be joining me on the drums, and I’m expecting several other special guests.”
Officially the Nye Beach “Second Saturday” Summer Celebration, the event shifts to the third Saturday in July due to the exodus of Newport musicians to the Oregon Country Fair in Veneta.
The free, family friendly community-wide celebration takes place rain or shine, from noon to 3 pm on the outdoor stage at Café Mundo, 209 NW Coast Street.
There is outdoor seating (some covered) and outdoor food and beverage service available during the performances. For more information, contact Davis at email@example.com or 541-272-4615.
