The INHOUSE Jazz series of house concerts will continue this Sunday, July 16, with a performance from pianist Steve Christofferson and vocalist Heather Keizur.

Hosted by vocalist Annie Averre, the concert will showcase a mix of fresh, original works, familiar jazz and Latin classics as well as favorite selections from the artists’ recordings.

Keizur and Christofferson stand out in a refreshing way, delivering a combination of classic pop, standards and French songs with a powerful and expressive stage presence.

“Heather sings like there’s no tomorrow” says Christofferson. “We’re compelled to reach you.”

Malcolm Holt of the Georgia Straight Jazz Society said many jazz fans view the pair’s 2015 performance together as the highlight of the season.

“Heather wowed the audience with a whole new level of romantic ballads, classic standards and authentic French chansons,” he said. “She combined these with her expressive stage presentation and interplay with Steve Christofferson.”

Meanwhile, fellow Portland Jazz pianist Dave Frishberg has this praise for his key-tickling colleague.

“Steve Christofferson gets a great sound and plays with real authority and impeccable taste,” Frishberg said. “He’s one of my favorite piano players.”

Sunday’s concert will run from 2:30 to 5:30 pm in a private home near Seal Rock. Admission is by suggested donation of $15 to $30, with profits donated in support of local music education.
