The Met: Live in HD will continue its 13th season this Saturday, Oct. 20, with a screening of “Samson et Dalila” at the Newport Performing Arts Center.
Camille Saint-Saëns’s biblical epic stars mezzo-soprano Elīna Garanča and tenor Roberto Alagna in the title roles of the mighty Nazirite and his treacherous lover.
Bass-baritone Laurent Naouri co-stars as the High Priest, with baritone Elchin Azizov as the Philistine king Abimélech and bass Dmitry Belosselskiy as the Old Hebrew. Darko Tresnjak, the Tony Award-winning director of “A Gentleman’s Guide to Love & Murder,” makes his debut directing the first new Met production of the opera in 20 years, with Sir Mark Elder as conductor.
The screening, hosted by Gloria Hutchins and presented by the Oregon Coast Council for the Arts, will start at 10 am at 777 W Olive Street.
