"Spirit of Freedom" by Janice Kobow

The latest Spotlight Show from Newport’s Yaquina Art Association will feature oil paintings from Janice Kobow alongside artwork crafted from found items by Penny Billinger.

Kobow studied fine art at the University of South Dakota and oil painting with artist Kathy Stewart in Siletz. She looks at her artwork as being impressionistic realism.

Kobow will be on hand at the gallery to discuss her work with visitors on Friday, Aug. 10.

Billinger’s artwork reflects her love of many hues and textures found in the Pacific Northwest coastal environment. Her Spotlight Show will feature artwork that will be made mostly of recycled materials and found objects, including items gathered from the ocean and the woods.

The show will run through Friday, Aug. 17, available to view from 11 am to 5 pm daily at the Yaquina Art Association Gallery, 789 NW Beach Drive.
