Mounted in pride of place

Throughout March Lincoln City’s Beachstone Gallery will be showcasing original works by local artist Kathy Cope.

Cope, from Lincoln City, works in a variety of media and is largely self-taught.

“I always admired and envied people who could actually paint a picture and have it look like something,” she said. “It wasn’t until I retired that I was able to try it myself. With the help of Bob Ross and a number of ‘Joy of Painting’ videos, I produced my first paintings and was hooked!”

Since then, Cope has experimented with many different techniques, mediums and styles.

“I have enjoyed everything I tried,” she said. “but find myself drawn to colorful paintings with somewhat stylized subject matter.”

The gallery is open daily from 10 am to 5 pm at 620 NE Hwy. 101, with parking at the rear of the building. For information about art classes, go to www.asaart.net.
