Oregon Coast artist Laurie Carlson will be showcasing a special exhibit of her oil paintings and giclée prints throughout February at Lincoln City’s Artists’ Co-op Gallery.
An oil painter, Carlson uses traditional techniques infused with brilliant expressive color. Using art training at various college-level courses, workshops and online classes, she has developed a loose, colorful style based on traditional oil painting techniques.
She describes her work as, “an antidote to cloudy days,” and says the coastal landscape “actually teems with color to an artist’s eye.”
Carlson moved to Lincoln City from Dallas, Oregon, two years ago and said joining the local art groups here has been important.
“I’ve been able to hone my painting style while meeting new friends and becoming part of a creative community,” she said.
Throughout February, Carlson will demonstrate her painting methods during live painting sessions from 11 am to 1 pm each Saturday at the Artists’ Co-op Gallery.
The gallery is open daily from 10 am to 5 pm at 620 NE Hwy. 101.
