Light on their Fleet
ON THE COVER
The Discovery, a 65-passenger excursion boat owned by Fran and Don Mathews of Marine Discovery Tours, will be covered in lights and greenery for Saturday’s Lighted Boat Parade in Yaquina Bay. Last weekend, their daughter Caitie Mathews (left) and nieces Joanna Burnham (right) and Shelby Burnham (center) were on hand to help deck the hulls. The Discovery and the company’s 27-foot rigid inflatable craft, the Oregon Rocket, are among 16 vessels set to participate in the 14th annual parade. OCT photo by Niki Price. Read the story.

AAUW HOME TOUR
These people built their castles on the sand. Visit the Salishan Spit and see what dreams, designers and 99-year leases can do for your own décor ideas.

ON STAGE
Have the striking Hollywood writers got you turning off the TV and looking for new entertainment ideas? Rediscover the theater, with your old pals Amahl and Ebeneezer, live and in person. Thankfully, even that old bleeding-heart Dickens is never on strike.

FIELD GUIDE

COAST CULTURE
This weather has us climbing the walls — for charity! Find out how you can root on the OCT’s rock-wall-climbing editor, for a good cause.

THE LABYRINTH
Having trouble keeping up with the pace of things lately? Maybe a little pacing is the answer.
