Greek out on mythology at ‘The Garden of Dionysus’ burlesque show

Your Newport Seafood and Wine Festival after party is just around the corner at Primaltones Community Venue.

The boutique lounge, bar and entertainment venue is hosting events within walking distance of the festival, beginning with Karaoke Night on Thursday, Feb. 22. On Friday, Feb. 23, DJ Grythm will be filling the dance floor with beats you won’t want to miss. And on Saturday, Feb. 24, for the main event, Primaltones and Americana Mayhem join forces to bring you the finest in burlesque entertainment with a tribute to the myths and legends of the gods and goddesses of Greek mythology.

Join MC Dionysus, god of wine, at his opulent garden party full of magic, mystery and ethereal burlesque entertainment. Feel yourself transported to a place and time that only exists within the mind, the clouds and on the Primaltones stage for this one, very special evening. Drink it in, and allow your cup to run over as you enter “The Garden of Dionysus.”

The cast is a mix of local and traveling artists. The local ladies, known as the Sirens of Sparkle, are a cabaret dance troupe performing under the artistic direction of Dixie DeLish, aka Rebecca Sinnhuber. Joining DeLish are local celebrities, Breezie Betty, Morrah Moth (Lunathe Flower), Elizaveta Bahktina (Babino), Lolli Pop, Sophia Solano (La Salsita).

“Performing is not an easy feat,” DeLish said. “It requires hours of hard work, blood, sweat and tears to perform and produce these shows. We do it because we love the creative process, the comradery, the costumes and bringing live entertainment to the coast. It’s worth all the time it takes training, dancing, and rhinestoning! We are just so grateful to have a place like Primaltones where we can share our art with the community and beyond.”

Master of ceremonies Molotov, as Dionysus, is a handsome, witty and comical artist who is a professional sword swallower, knife thrower, trick roper and precision bull whip cracker. As a master of storytelling, he takes his audience on a journey with his colorful and descriptive phrases.

Lu Harlow is a Eugene-based freelance crooner, dancer, artist and producer of vaudeville troupe “Nouveau Noir USA.” This professional ballerina, songbird and limitless entertainer is waiting to take you away to her dreamland of vintage grandeur and curiosity.

Tobias Weinberger, performing as Poseidon, god of the sea, brings his unique brand of whimsical and spirited magic to the Primaltones stage. Originally from Sonoma, California, this former member of the “Yard Dogs Road Show” has been performing since the age of 11. Now known for his traveling vaudeville show, “The Traveling Spectacular,” he combines his love of magic, circus and surrealism to create a spectacular performance unlike any you’ve seen before.

New to the cast is Ro Gluck, cast as Pan. Owner and operator of Tangent workshops in Aquarium Village, Gluck is a creative and steadfast artist expanding into the world of live entertainment and show business.

“The Garden of Dionysus’ will be presented in two seatings, at 6 pm and again at 9 pm on Saturday, Feb. 24. Primaltones Community Venue is located in Aquarium Village at 2925 SE Ferry Slip Road in South Beach. Tickets, $35 for general admission and $45 for VIP, are available at primaltones.com.
